Entrepreneurs can now present their circular economy projects for the Green Alley 2019 award

The deadline is now open for entrepreneurs and startups to submit their business model development projects aimed at helping to reduce waste or convert waste into resources, in the areas of circular digital economy, recycling and waste prevention, to the 2019 edition of the Green Alley Award. Startups may send in their candidacy until June 25, 2019. The Green Alley Awards, created by the Landbell Group, parent company of the European Recycling Platform (ERP), is the first European award for entrepreneurs focused on the circular economy.

The aim of the award is to encourage and promote new businesses and connect them to a network of circular economy experts.

It is now in its sixth year and has been designed to help companies that are about to launch their products or services or are in a growth phase, as well as those that want to expand into other European markets. Participants can submit their candidatures until 25 June, online, via the web: https://green-alley-award.com/

The prize has an economic endowment of 25,000 euros for the winner. In addition to the cash award, this year’s finalists will also have the chance to win the Seedmatch Crowd Award, which includes a one-day workshop to raise money through online platforms and the chance to create an individual crowdfunding campaign. „We want to drive forward new ideas and views on how to save resources and reduce waste,“ says Jan Patrick Schulz, CEO of Landbell Group. „Our aim is to encourage and promote new businesses and connect them to a network of circular economy experts across Europe,“ he adds.

Wide variety of concepts in projects presented

Whether it’s the development of sustainable materials, ideas to reduce waste or useful digital tools, the circular economy has enormous business potential for entrepreneurs. This is demonstrated by the diversity of concepts presented by the Green Alley Award winners over the past five years. Last year, the British startup company Aeropowder won the award with an insulating packaging material made from discarded feathers.

In 2017, the Finnish startup Sulapac presented an alternative to plastic packaging made from biodegradable wood. And the first winner of the Green Alley Award in 2014, the Finnish startup Repack, proposed a reusable packaging service for online retailers to reduce their disposable packaging.
