Meet the KATCH_e team at the European Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production 2019 in Barcelona

The European Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production (ERSCP) is one of Europe’s most remarkable conferences in its field and has taken place periodically since 1994. The 19th ERSCP conference, from 15-18 October is hosted by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – Barcelona Tech (UPC). ERSCPs foster discussions on key issues in sustainable consumption and production; the exchange of thoughts, knowledge, experiences and SCP proposals; and the creation of a European (also worldwide) community of research and practice in sustainable consumption and production. The main goal of the ERSCPs is to encourage discussion amongst stakeholders involved in sustainable consumption and production: businesses, public institutions, universities, institutes and research centres, NGOs, SMEs, professional associations, decision-makers, etc.

Circular Design Conference, Room Agora
In the afternoon of the Circular Design Conference organised by the UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya), the KATCH_e partners will present the results of the project composed by the training modules, MOOC and tools developed to train for Circular Economy in the Construction and Furniture Sectors.
The attending international academic scientists, policy makers, young researchers, enterprises, designers and students, will have the opportunity to use and test the seven practical tools developed within the project.

The CE Designer checklists are a semi-quantitative tool for prioritization, assessment and idea finding of circular solutions for product and/or service (re)design. The user evaluates the importance of 8 strategies that address the most relevant issues a design team needs to consider in the development process of new products or services to support the transition to a more circular society.

The main results and outcomes of this Higher Education Knowledge Alliance will be presented and demonstrated. Eleven organisations from 4 different countries have worked together for nearly 3 years in this ERASMUS+ project to develop training materials and learning approaches for the uptake of the circular economy in the construction and furniture sectors.
Participants of the KATCH_e International Workshop will gain first-hand knowledge on the 8 KATCH_e learning modules developed and the 7 KATCH_e product-service development tools for circular economy and sustainability.

The CE Strategist – A learning tool to identify new circular business opportunities and adapt the business model

In this presentation a learning tool, the so-called CE Strategist, which provides guidance for the process of creating a CE inspired Business Model (BM) is presented. Developed within the KATCH_e project, the tool aims to help students and businesses alike, to identify circular business opportunities and further define them through an adapted version of the Business Model Canvas (BMC).
